SOAR Counselor (Student Outcomes, Achievement & Readiness)

Graduation & CRP Pathways

  • Prepare students for post-high school success by managing CRP Pathways:
      • Facilitate opportunities for students to engage in the Career Portal. 
      • Ensure that students meet Career Readiness Program (CRP) requirements.
      • Track student progress, ensuring alignment with Ohio report card standards.
      • Monitor students working towards credentials and CRP pathway completion.
  • In charge of Student Success Plans (SSPs) for grades 9-12, ensuring individual support for our most At-Risk Students:
      • Create and hold SSP meetings with students regularly to review their progress and goals, making adjustments as needed.
      • Collaborate with parents, students, and teachers to ensure all stakeholders are engaged in the student’s long-term success plan.
  • Support Alternative Pathway Industry-Recognized Credential Students:
    • Work with the Manager of Counseling to support alternative pathway students.
    • Monitor student progress and provide check-ins via phone calls, and texts, to ensure these students are staying on track and receiving the necessary support.
    • Proctor 12pt Exams, issue STs Credential and Seals.

Special Projects and Support 

  • Assist with Special Projects supporting both High School and Middle School:
      • Contribute to initiatives like PBIS, student mentoring programs, Small Group Counseling, or student transition support from middle to high school.
      • Act as a liaison between various teams, helping to bring clarity and focus to special projects that impact student success across the school.
  • Identify At-Risk Middle School students, and develop Early Interventions:
      • Develop and refine processes, alongside relevant stakeholders for early identification of at-risk students and create targeted intervention strategies in partnership with all stakeholders using metrics such as attendance, academic performance, and behavioral issues.
      • Engage in regular data reviews and collaborate on creating intervention plans to address the academic, social, and emotional needs of at-risk students.
  • Assist with Special Projects needed within Credit Recovery:
      • Work closely with students engaged in Credit Recovery programs, and coordinate with teachers to provide the appropriate resources and interventions for credit-deficient students.
  • Testing Support
    • Help with the input of new students' test scores into the system to maintain up-to-date academic records.
    • Collaborate with counselors and stakeholders to ensure students who need to retake EOCs, complete seals, or finish a pathway have the support they need.
